What is Stamping?

Stamping is a processing method of applying external forces to plates, strips, pipes and profiles with the help of presses and molds to produce plastic deformation or separation, so as to obtain the required shape and size of the workpiece. The process is divided into separation process and forming process. The separation process includes blanking, cutting, notching and trimming. The forming process includes bending, drawing, flanging, expanding and shrinking. According to the mold structure can be divided into single process mold, compound mold and continuous mold.

Single - operation Die

A single process die means that a die only completes one stamping process, such as only punching or only bending. The mold is simple in structure, easy to manufacture and debug, but the production efficiency is low, and it is suitable for the production of parts with small batches and simple shapes

Compound Die

Composite die refers to a station in a die where two or more stamping processes are completed at the same time. For example, blanking and punching in the same mold at the same time can ensure the high precision of the position of the parts, and the production efficiency is higher than that of the single-process mold, but the mold structure is complex, the manufacturing and maintenance costs are high, and it is often used to produce parts with large batches and high precision requirements, and the combination of drawing dies and other processes is a composite die

Stamping and pipe bending are closely related. In the process of pipe fitting machining, stamping can provide pretreatment for pipe fitting bending.
